One of my favorite places to go for a hip, yet informal dinner out is Lee.
Nothing against Susur next door, which is Susur Lee's original restaurant, but I must say, I really enjoy the more lively yet casual approach to dining at Lee. The menu is sort of a tapas style and each dish is meant for sharing.
But after you try the Spicy Crisp Tofu with a wildflower honey & chili soy glaze and mushroom & pepper compote or the Caramelized Black Cod with Cantonese preserves and miso mustard you might not want to share.
Both dishes are amazing.
The Broccoli Salad with crispy bacon, puffed rice & Kung Pao Dressing is also really good, but is a great dish to share as it's a lot of broccoli for one person.
If you've never been before, one of the most popular dishes is the Singaporean Slaw which is really fun and really tasty.
We didn't have it this time around, but I would recommend it.
The Salmon Ceviche was okay.
I actually didn't care for the Chilled Beef Salad with Horseradish dressing Parmesan crumble.
That would be the one and only thing that I didn't really love. But Big daddy was totally digging it.
Then again, in all fairness it was the last dish to arrive and by that point I was pretty stuffed.
It's so easy to get carried away and want to sample so many things from the menu.
I think we ordered one dish too many.
The wine list is reasonable and I believe they have a $30 corkage fee (which I have yet to utilize)
It's a pretty mixed and funky crowd, but not annoyingly too cool for school.
It's a warm and interesting dining room setting. With lots of great design details.
I
love the thick pink tinged Lucite tables (no playing footsies here)
interesting wall scrims with budgie birds on the walls, nice old wood
beams, and my favorite- great dim lighting and good music set at the
right volume.
I would highly recommend Lee if you are looking for a fun night out and some really tasty food.
Definitely 3 G's for Lee.
Great Great food.
Great service.
Great vibe.

I would love to try either Susur or Lee, but I'm afraid of being shocked by the bill. How much should one budget for a night with Lee?

susur is mucho dinero $$$$
lee is actually fairly reasonable.
but not what I would consider a bargain.
check out the website for the menu.
but our bill was around $125-ish

We went when it first opened and were disappointed. They seemed really pretentious plus they rushed us--several of the items arrived at once and grew cold. Maybe we just had a bad night.
