One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch and a killer latte is at B Espresso.
It's located on Queen East between Church and Jarvis in a beautiful old building that is also the home to Verity and George.
The decor is simple and authentic.
Whenever I get the chance to come here I instantly feel like I could be in Milan and not Toronto.
nothing against the big smoke- but it's a nice change of pace from the usual run of the mill coffee and sandwich shops around town.
Designed by Cecconi Simone, the narrow room is usually full to
capacity. Bright red tiles are the back drop for a long communal carra
marble-topped table. It's a mixed crowd, from young fashionistas who
most likely work in at one of the many magazines located in the same
building, European looking business-men in tailored suits to the odd
mom with a baby in a sling.
The latter happened to be in front of me in line today with the cutest little sleeping bambino I had seen in a long while.
I
may have even had a momentary moment of maternal longing....then I
snapped out of it when my grilled panini was placed in front of me.
The food is simple but excellent.
From Wraps like the Vegetarian~grilled zucchini, roasted peppers, marinated mushrooms, basil pesto, and goat cheese which I usually get.
To the Salad del Giorno~ Daily salad which changes each day and sells out fast.
Today I grabbed the chopped brussels sprouts with pecorino cheese and chopped walnuts.
It has truly changed the way I feel about brussels sprouts.
I'm a convert.
They
also offer pastas, fritattas and pizzas, but with all those cute little
skinny fashionable girls around, who really wants to chow down on
anything too heavy?
Might just have to sneak back in there on a Saturday on their day off.
The desserts all look amazing- though I have to admit I usually don't indulge my sweet tooth during the day.
I'm more of a night time sweet snacker.
Plus see above comment about all those skinny chicks.
But the best is the espresso.
The Barista there seems to know everyone by name and even if it's your first time eating there he will make you feel special.
his espressos are near perfection and he loves to make interesting espresso art when he has a chance.
You will want to linger over your Latte forever.
I would definitely give B Espresso 3 G's
Great service

I go by there all the time, but I've never been in.
