There's something about rainy weekends and dumplings for me.
I'm always on the hunt for a new Dim Sum place that might just have something a little bit different than all the rest.
A few months ago we found ourselves in Markham.
why you ask?
well I needed to make a pit stop at Michael's Craft store and it was either this location or Mississauga.
six of one......
why are there no decent craft stores downtown??
anywho... little did I know that Markham has a ton of really awesome authentic and clean Chinese restaurants.
One of which is Ding Tai Fung restaurant.
love this place and have been back several times.
One of our favorites dishes are the mini "soup dumplings" craveable. yummmm.
It's great being able to watch the cooks prepare each dumpling by hand behind a glass window looking into the kitchen.
Now that's not something you get to see everyday (especially at the downtown Chinese restaurants)
Then again, I probably wouldn't want to see what really goes on in those kitchens on Spadina.
So if you find yourself in Markaham- for whatever reason- check out some of the fantastic Chinese food.
really authentic and really good.

I love dim sum. Don't find myself in Markham too often though!
The frozen stuff at T&T is actually pretty good.

Mmmm...dim sum...
Good, albeit expensive dim sum at the Dim Sum shop on yonge north of eglinton. And for vegetarian dim sum, there is lotus pond somewhere in scarborough. Must go there again soon.

Ding Tai Fung is indeed an awesome dim sum restaurant. Aside from the fabulous food they serve, what I especially love about Ding Tai Fung, though, is that they are very welcoming of families. I've taken my kids there countless times, and I've met up with friends and their kids, too. The staff is always happy to see us arrive with the little ones. It makes it so much easier to enjoy the meal when you know the staff aren't looking at you and saying, "oh no! kids!"
