A few weeks ago I did something that would have mortified my teen-aged self.
I listed as one of my favorites, a song performed by a *gasp* country music group.
It was in this post in which I responded to a Crazy Eights meme by revealing eight songs I could listen to over and over. One of them: Landslide by the Dixie Chicks.

We did it! Snuck under the wire with one day to go before closing, but we managed to see Sweeney Todd at the Princess of Wales. You may remember that we had planned to see the show on November 10th, but the Little Guy arrived three weeks early so we had to give up our tickets. Luckily, my parents had tickets for today's matinee and were willing to babysit.

This is an unexpected post for me. Yesterday was just as any other day. Woke up, went to work, then I read the paper during break. There was a tiny little snippet in the corner that caught my attention:
On this day…
1980 - Led Zeppelin announces their decision to break up.

On The Getting of Gifts
Brace yourself – it’s holiday season. Or more to the point, prepare yourself to get busy with the gifting and then the writing of thank you cards for tacky socks and stinky candles. Unless. Unless! Unless you plan ahead – and there’s still time.
It might seem like this should come after the gifts, but if you want to launch a preemptive strike against the gloppy, unwanted preserves, awful recall-pending toys, and regifted needlepoint bookmarks, you have to do it before the shopping starts for the others. Tell them what you want before they buy you what you don’t!

According to a groundbreaking report from the United Way, more Toronto families are slipping into poverty this year while the rest of the GTA as well as the country are seeing economic improvements. This holiday season, 45000 children will receive a gift box filled with warm clothing, a book, a toy, and some candy, courtesy of the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund. The Star has been running features since the middle of last month about the project and families it touches. Some are stories of women fleeing abusive relationships (like the teenage mother of a four year old with autism and a two month old infant). Some are stories of newcomers (like the family that came from war-torn Afghanistan). But all are a brief view into the lives of people far less fortunate than any blogger, or blog reader.

For a family that watches too much a lot of TV, tonight is a big night - the fall finale of Heroes. If you don't watch Heroes, I'm just going to assume you don't currently own a TV. Humour me here folks. My life pretty much revolves around breastfeeding, no sleep and looking forward to watching TV while children (hopefully) sleep. This is a Big Night. The fact that there may be no more Heroes for a very long time due to the writer's strike cuts me to my core. I fully support the writers, of course, but I need my fix TV!

Jana first saw this meme on L.A. Daddy's site
and emailed me about it. Now I know some people view meme's as a cop
out for a post but it is about music and I'm an iTunes and iPod geek.
We are lucky the mini power failure we had a week ago somehow revived
our dead desktop. (It was magically turned on and the hard drive kicked
in for the first time in months) The iTunes on the laptop isn't
anywhere near as extensive or tweaked.
