Today, the family took off to Niagara Falls to attend the Blog Friends Fest. Ahh, traveling with two small kids. I have this blissful picture in my head of long roads stretching out to the horizon, sunny skies, and boys happily playing I Spy or the Alphabet City game in the backseat.
Har, har. The reality is much different. Generally, there is always someone screaming, moaning because they're hungry or bored, or whining because they want to hear "My music, play MY music!".
All I can say is THANK GOODNESS the nice people at Ford lent us their new Flex for the trip. I had no idea how much you had to pack. The kids are small! Why do they need so much @#%$ stuff?!
Okay - you can stop laughing now. We're new at this road trip thing. We never did it with our first. But since we're planning a driving trip to PEI later this summer, we thought we should test the waters.
There is no way that everything we have to take would fit in our small four door car. I shudder just thinking about trying to make it all fit. We're in the market for a new vehicle, but haven't decided anything yet.
So far, the Ford Flex is awesome. Smooth ride. Comfortable seats. There's a fridge between the passenger seats in the second row that can also be a freezer. I tested it out with the baby's food and it was lovely and chilly when we stopped for lunch. AND...there's a built-in DVD player. My three-year-old's head almost exploded when he found out there was a TV in the car. He jumped in the car while we were still just in the packing stages and wouldn't get out. And on the way there....not a peep from him. Not a whine. Not a moan. It would have been absolute heaven if the baby hadn't started screaming halfway through. He couldn't see the TV. If we could have turned the carseat around so he could, it would have been paradise on four wheels.
Oh, and the packing? We got everything in with room to spare. The Husband thinks I packed too much (stop rolling your eyes, man..), but he'll thank me when I'm off partying with the girls and the baby gets bored/tired/hungry. Just you wait and see...

Every car should have a fridge! That is awesome. And I think gear comes in inverse proportion to the size of the actual person to whom it belongs, it seems to me.

I love this photo :) The Flex looked really neat from the outside and your description of the inside makes me tempted to check it out some day ;)
