Our Thanksgiving table was decorated with three toilet paper roll turkeys, a paper plate wreath and some handprint birds.
I’ve always been a sucker for kids’ crafts.
This last week, I’ve been trying to remember how to crochet. While I could probably lay my hands on the grimy potholder from ever so long ago, apparently things you learned thirty (eek!) years ago? Just don’t stay in the memory bank that long.
Side note to Dr. Phil: Yeah, that ‘muscle memory’ thing you kept pushing when I was pottying the kids? I think we just debunked that one.
Anyhoo, I now have a lot of snarled yarn and several hooks. What to do?
Hmm. It IS almost Halloween. How about a spooky....thing? With string....
AHA!
And this IS an easy one....
Spooky Spiderweb Candy Dish
You'll need:
A bowl roughly the size you want your finished craft to be
plastic wrap
string or yarn
ziploc bag
white glue
Turn your bowl over and cover the bottom and sides with plastic wrap, pulling tight.
Drizzle some white glue inside the ziploc bag, add some yarn, and moosh it all together.
Zigzag or loop the string up and down and around your plastic-covered bowl. Remember to toss in a few strands to act as supports for the rest, too. And the larger your bowl, the more supports you'll need...
Let dry (12 hours or until dry to touch) and gently pull off plastic wrap.
Is your bowl sagging? Thin on string in a few places? You can always add more glue-soaked yarn!
Garnish with a few spiders, and you've got one tricky thing to hand out Halloween candy in!
(pictures of ours up soon!)

Dude, that is probably the coolest yarn craft I've read in a while (Gigi would love soaking the yarn in glue, then making a mommy mummy out of me).
