It is a sign of the times. Back in 1964 everyone just wanted to hold hands. In 2008 what thrills the general public is picturing two straight girls making out.
The Beatles held the number one spot for seven weeks with their smash hit "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Forty four years later Katy Perry matched their success with her single “I Kissed a Girl.”
Katy swears that she has never actually gone there. She told Rolling Stone magazine that if she had locked lips with anyone, it probably would have been a certain ballerina.

I grew up knowing “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. The song was a high school anthem. Joy Division t-shirts were a personal statement. Over the years the songs became part of my collection but I never knew much about the band other than the singer’s tragic suicide and the occasional video on Much Music. I knew the band but knew nothing of the band.
Control was popular at many film festivals in 2007. Friends of mine brought this evocative film to my attention. It is a very involving story of the band and focuses on Ian Curtis’ life. Shot in black and white, it carries on the band’s morbid image.

Radiohead’s revolutionary 'pay what you want' scheme for their album In Rainbows has changed the way that some people think about buying music.
A new website Aralie.com was launched last month. It was founded to give independent artists a free way to get their music to the masses. It is the first site of its kind to allow users to choose how much they pay, including nothing, to download songs. They feel this is the best way to beat music piracy.

Daniel Craig will soon be back as 007. The 22nd James Bond film Quantum of Solace will open in theatres on November 7th.
For the first time in Bond history, the theme song will be a duet! Alicia Keys and the White Stripes' Jack White have recorded the song "Another Way To Die."
Amy Winehouse was rumoured to be considered for this gig however she has been way too busy to do this side project.

It kicks off with the sharp crack of the snare. The riff hits you and it has begun.
Four minutes of sonic perfection. The 60’s fuzz guitar overwhelms, the hook grabs you and won’t relent for the duration of the song. You fall into the groove.
The words make little sense but you don’t care. The melody is what’s important.
